Lighting Design and Operation
A lighting designer sets up the lights on stage and controls their position, strength and colour during the production. He or she works closely with the director and the stage manager to decide how to light any scene most effectively and to set up and operate special items such as spotlights and strobes. During a show, lighting operators are positioned in the lighting box at the back of the Mill auditorium or possibly on one of the “perches” at the side of the theatre operating a spotlight.
