Auction of Goods and Promises – report
by Brian Woodrow
On Saturday 1st October, another successful Auction of Goods and Promises in aid of the ‘Warm up’ Appeal raised around £4000 in total. A big thank you to all the individuals and organisations that donated ‘lots’ and to those generous people who bought them.
Russell Beard. a very persuasive auctioneer, ensured that the evening merrily rolled along at a cracking pace and finished on schedule. His family came along and did some bidding! It would have been good to have more people there – only 54 attended – but everyone seemed to enjoy the evening.
The unusual last lot donated by Russell Beard – Auctioneer for a day, bought by Brian Woodrow – involves auctioning the first 10 items at a real live auction at Charles Ross Auction House in Woburn, probably in March 2017. We supply the lots and receive the proceeds for the Warm Up Appeal free of commission. If anyone has something that they would like to dispose of that might make some money at auction please get in touch with Brian on 01234 349455 or e-mail bwoodrow@btinternet.com.
Lastly thank you so much to Brenda and Gerry Stafford who did so much of the detailed organisation including preparing the catalogue.
