Send in the Crowd – join our Crowdfunding campaign
Crowdfunding project starts to raise funds to heat theatre
Four years ago, the Sharnbrook Mill Theatre set themselves an enormous task: to raise £300,000 to install a green energy-based heating and ventilation system in the theatre that was once a fully working, water-powered flour mill dating back to 1703.
The good news is that half of the money has been raised and an innovative, water-driven heating system using the water from the mill stream has been fitted and the heat is finally on!
But…. to complete Phase 2, a further £30,000 needs to be raised to heat the rest of the building.
So, to get there, a Crowdfunding page has just gone live to raise £5,000 in just 8 weeks.
Several rewards, starting from £5, are on offer include something that is very rarely offered at the Mill: a VIP tour of the theatre allowing you to see parts of this historic theatre that are never open to the public including backstage, the costume store and the old mill wheel. The tour will finish off with a special preview of our next show in rehearsal.
You can also purchase tickets to see shows at special rates that include drinks and programs as well as paying for very own performance of the society’s improvisation troupe At the Drop of a Hat.
Amelia Newman, who organised the appeal, says:
“This is a new method of fundraising for the Mill and we hope it will be a great success. With crowdfunding, we can only reach our target if a ‘crowd’ of people visit our page – so we really need the public’s help to spread the word! Even if you are unable to donate, you can still help by simply sharing our link on your social media pages.”
