Here is all the information you’ll need to audition for our Winter show, Seussical the Musical.
Synopsis
“Seussical the Musical” follows the story of some of the most loveable characters and stories created by Dr Seuss. Can Horton the Elephant protect the Whos and an abandoned egg? Will Getrude ever get noticed by Horton? Can Jojo discover the power of his thinks? Join the Cat in the Hat as he leads us through this whimsical and heartfelt musical.
Audition prep sessions
Wednesday, 30th April at 7pm, Sharnbrook Mill Theatre.
Saturday, 3rd May from 10am-1pm at Sharnbrook Mill Theatre.
Please note: both preparation sessions will contain a brief introduction about the show, production team and information about the auditions as well as time to learn some choreography. Attending both days is not necessary but if you would like more time to learn the dance, you would be more than welcome to join both sessions.
Auditions
These will be held on Sunday, 4th May at Sharnbrook Mill Theatre. The schedule is as follows:
- 10am-1pm: Child/Teen (under 18) auditions.
- 1pm-5pm: Adult auditions.

Characters in the show
There are no age ranges specified for the show, other than Adult (over 18), Child (under 18) or Teen (16-18) as displayed below.
The Cat in the Hat – The main story teller. The essence of mischief, fun and imagination (Adult Male or Female)
Jojo – Our ‘thinker’ – A smart child with a wild imagination. (Male or Female Child)
Horton the Elephant – A gentle giant. Big-hearted and receptive to the world around him. (Male Adult)
Gertrude McFuzz – A nervous and shy bird who soon finds her power. (Female Adult)
Mayzie La Bird – A bird with some ‘oomph’. Mayzie is self-centered (a contrast to Horton) but enjoys life and living! (Female Adult– Strong dance skills)
Sour Kangaroo – Loud, brassy and speaks her mind. (Female Adult)
General Gengus Khan Schmitz – A patriotic and proud Who (If not a tad misguided!) (Male Adult)
The Wickersham Brothers – Three mischievous monkeys! Take great joy in teasing Horton. Work closely as a three but have their own unique characters. (3 Male/Female Adults – we could explore casting teens for the part but we would need to discuss options.)
The Birds – Three or Four harmonic birds who help guide the story along through song. (Female Adults – we could explore casting teens for the part but we would need to discuss options)
The Who’s (Including Mr and Mrs Mayor) – ‘Ordinary’ people… except they live on a teeny tiny planet! Bright and vibrant characters. (Ensemble – Open to all ages/gender. Mr and Mrs Mayor – Male and Female Adult)
Jungle Creatures – The residents of Nool. Lively, animalistic characters who help guide the story along. (Ensemble- Open to all ages/gender)

Rehearsals
Rehearsals will be taking place from Saturday, 31st May, 10am-1pm. We plan to meet on Wednesdays in June and then Tuesdays/Thursdays/weekends from July onwards (Dates and times will be confirmed at the first rehearsal.
