We Went To The Races!

On 12th February Sue and Ron hosted our first Virtual Race Night – and what a super evening it was!

We had a good turnout from our members and some lovely costumes – no surprise from a theatrical bunch really! There was a brief appearance from an Arab Sheik who was quite shy about his involvement in the stables and Virginia didn’t disappoint us with her varied selection of hats, changed in between races, accompanied by Doug as a race goer.

Mark joined us as the trainer with his own horse! Although the word in the stables is that they must have had insider knowledge as they were the overall winners and have now received a box of chocolates and a bag of oats to celebrate.

The ‘Best Dressed’ prize went to Laura and Paul, who logged in as a horse and jockey, winning a bottle of wine for their efforts.

There were lots of laughs and giggles throughout the seven races with smiles to be had at the ‘patter’ from the online commentators as well as amongst our own guests!

Special thank you to Sophie Sigsworth who was our official adjudicator and helped with keeping scores.

Lovely to see everyone for a relaxed and fun evening. Thanks to Sue and Ron for their hard work in organising the evening – they are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to the bar for a proper drink soon!
