Umbrella Theatre Academy
Umbrella Theatre Academy is a youth theatre group for local children to learn the discipline of dance, drama and song. The children will learn through imaginative play, script writing, learning routines, improvisation techniques and games. They will work towards small and large productions throughout the year, showcasing their talents and building their confidence on and off the stage.
The Mini Class is for ages 4-6. This is a lovely class for children to start their theatrical journey. We teach using games and stories and involve the children’s ideas as much as possible so they feel fully immersed in the process. This is a great foundation for them to be ready for the Junior Class when the time comes.
The Junior Class is for ages 7-11 and works on the three theatrical disciplines – dance, drama and singing. They will take part in warm-ups, learn dance routines and create their own choreography and movement pieces. They will learn scripts and be part of the script writing process. We will also look at singing and vocal techniques to improve their confidence and vocal ability in all areas. All the disciplines will be taught within the framework of a project or show and will have fun at the heart of the sessions.
The Senior Class is for ages 11-18 and will run in a similar way to the Junior Class, with a chance to stretch their abilities and take on more responsibility on and off the stage.
The Junior and Senior Classes will have a section of their weekly classes together as this gives them the opportunity to learn choral pieces and bond as a company.
This is an exciting opportunity and we look forward to our first project starting very soon.
